My Dear Mr. and Mrs. Lewis,

I hope that this letter will not be a shock to you, and that my request will be received favorably. I did not have the opportunity of asking for the hand of Miss. Ina, but I want to do so at this time.

There is no doubt in our minds but that we understand each other and I believe that our love is mutual. We believe that we realize the step we are taking, and I hope that I can give her the comforts of a home and make her happy.
